Just prior to Easter we had the privilege of celebrating the retirement of our longest ever serving member of staff.
Stephen Holder began working for the company in May 1965 and retired in April 2019 after 53 years and 11 months. He has always retained a special interest in the Vehicle Bodyshop dept. of our business as that is where he trained for his trade, but over the years he has worked with in most areas of the company to some degree or another applying his knowledge and skill right across the company and ultimately taking on the role of a Director of the company. In 2016 he reduced his workload and day to day operational involvement but continued as a Director on the Board.
Current and past employees met in our canteen, along with Stephen’s wife, two daughters and two of his grandchildren to enjoy a buffet lunch and take the opportunity to wish him all the best for the future. Company shareholders presented Stephen with a gift and certificate of achievement as well as sharing stories of working together in years gone by. Current Directors and management personnel also took the opportunity to thank him for his enormous contribution over the last half century.
He has served the company with absolute commitment and loyalty and his input will be much missed, but we hope he will still be dropping in to see us all now and again.
